Web 2.0 and How to monetize your videos
Marco - Polo : the web 2.0 powerful influence
We, and by we I mean
my significant other, decided that I needed a break from the addictive influence known as the internet. So off we went for
a short weekend getaway. I have to say up front that the Peabody hotel was a nice place ( Marco ) but as I sat pool side enjoying
the sun - the influence of the “web 2.0” internet reared it’s ugly head. While I was trying not to think
about the internet, three little girls ran by all giddy and excited and I heard one scream in glee: “I can’t wait
to put this on Youtube!” ( Polo ….) The influence of the net found me.
It’s no surprise to me that at
dinner I heard a similar statement from a couple near by [ I was not ease dropping - much ] about checking their myspace page.
If there is anything that has caught the hearts and minds of today’s society online - it has to be online videos. People
have just gone wild over watching, sharing and creating videos to post online.
Web 2.0 and Monetize videos
Because of the wide influence online videos has had over millions of people - it
has been the goal of many large companies to monetize [ make money ] from videos that were created, shared from the average
user. Not just to monetize the web page - but because videos are viral and can go anywhere [ copied and pasted to thousands
of sites] they wanted to monetize the video itself.
As an Affiliate Marketer, my goal is the same as that of Google and
every other company that is trying to profit from the popularity of online videos. After all, the hold that online videos
has over millions of people world wide makes it an attractive medium and a large potential revenue that can be created if
you monetize videos properly.
How to monetize your videos
For the average Joe, the question is: How do I monetize my videos or make money with
videos? Not everyone has the tools, time, or expertise to created good quality videos. So how do I [ the average joe] make
money with videos?
There are several ways to accomplish this:
* Revver - you can create videos and share videos and receive part of the ad revenue generated.
* Spymac.com- a german company a lot like you tube who pays you for your video content, but based on a voting system.
* You tube - everyone has heard about their promise to share revenue with the top viewed video creators, and the pop up
ad system their working on. Based on if you are selected to join.
* AdBright - A system where you can down load a video to play on their video player and ads are inserted to video. A little
difficult to download.
We can also mention the idea of creating videos to promote a product you might be selling or are affiliated with. But this
takes more effort than the average joe wants to deal with.
My choice on “How to monetize videos”
My personal choice for monetizing videos is REVVER. I prefer
Revver because it offers the best of both worlds and is the easiest and simplest of all the other methods. Revver does two
things that puts it on the top of my list.
One:
It is easy to use - no special format you just down load video like you do at you tube. They
also allow you to chose if you want to “pre roll’ or have your advertisements show at end of video. [ I always
choose at end of video because this helps to draw in people who have small attention spans and keeps those who hate ads -
from running away in the first 10 sec’s.] They also offer ads that are relevant to your video { I think this helps to
pre-sell viewer and entices them to click ad ].
Two:
If you create a video, as the creator you get 40% of the ad revenue that is generated by Revver.
But to help in the spreading or sharing of your videos [ to help them possibly go viral and spread like a virus across the
web ] Revver offers people who join, 20% of all the revenue generated by videos they share online. So if your not a creator,
you can still show videos you like and make money from that video. This option alone is a major plus in helping not only the
creator of a video but the average joe who wants to make money online with videos.
** Side note: as of July 2007, if you use myspace, be aware that myspace has banned all video players from showing on their
website. The only video players they allow is Youtube, Google, and of course their own.
So there you have it, you can monetize your website with videos. It is just another avenue you have to make money online.
So, now that you know, I’ll go back to the pool before I get in deep doo doo.
