The Affiliate program and more
Every one should know by now that the “Affiliate program” was basically started by Amozon.com. For those who
may not know the story here is a recap.
[ In 1996, Jeff Bezos, CEO and founder of Amazon.com, popularized this idea as an Internet marketing strategy.
Amazon.com attracts affiliates to post links to individual books for sale on Amazon.com, or for Amazon.com in general, by
promising them a percentage of the profits if someone clicks on the link and then purchases books or other items. The associates
help make the sale and generate income, but Amazon.com does everything else: They take the order, collect the money and ship
the book to the customer. With over 500,000 associate Web sites now participating, Amazon.com's program is a resounding success.
Over the past few years, these programs have grown enormously in popularity, taking many interesting forms. For many Web sites
that don't deal much in e-commerce (selling products or services online) themselves, functioning as an affiliate is a good
way to participate in e-commerce. ]
While the affiliate program and partnerships have grown and expanded - not much has come out of the growth as in “inventive”
or “creative’. We had the banner ads, the text ads [ad sense being the most popular ], interactive banners, vidio
ads [ text, banners and promotional videos ]. But Amozon has come out with something new that I personally think is a new
break through.
If your any kind of social junkie you’ve probably used the “tag Clouds” offered by many social sites
- especially by the social bookmarking sites [ Digg or dropjack.com ]. These Tag clouds are used by many to look up topics and greatly used by online marketers who want to to what tags draw
the largest crowd in order to direct their marketing toward that group. Tag clouds are great - and Amozon had made them even
greater.
If you like promoting Amozon products as part of your online business - Amozon has brought you something new to love. They
have created and started using Tag clouds to promote their products on your website. of course it’s Java script and
can not be used in sites that ban java script [ such as myspace and Face book ]. But as a whole it can be placed on a blog,
website, and you basically just copy and paste the code. No real effort to implement this.
If you love Amozon, your best strategy would be to choose a section of your websie page and past code into page. This Tag
cloud will not only attract people but it also has a feature where it allows previews of the product. Since it’s not
just one product you give your visitors a large selection to preview and choose from.
If your not a fan of Amozon - well, the tag cloud look alone should help you atleast love this feature. It looks, acts,
and feels like a tag cloud many are accustomed using. And again, the preview feature keeps your visitors on your site while
opening sales opportunities for you.
