Finding new innovating ways to promote your site maybe more difficult than what you thought. Especially when you’ve
exhausted all avenues and your budget doesn’t allow you to experiment with a new expensive promotional tool. It may
be beneficial to give a website away to charity?
Being charitable is a good thing. It can even be a profitable thing to do.
It’s an old idea and tactic. In the beginning days of the internet, and it’s still done today to some degree
- giving away free web space or complete websites was a normal thing to do. Companies would give free web space or websites
with all the necessary tools needed to anyone who wanted one. The only catch - you were force to have their banners and advertisements
posted on your free space. So while you promoted your free web site to friends and family - they received free traffic to
their advertisements. Not a bad trade.
The Idea is no different today.
For an affiliate, trying to generate more traffic - it may be profitable to give away free web space or complete web sites.
You can take and old trick and apply a new spin.
Tip: Find yourself an organization that needs help - as in some one or group, who needs a knowledgeable person.
They need some one who has the capacity, knowledge, time, and web space to help them create an exciting web presence for free.
Here is my living example: H2O Youth Group
My local church has a youth group who were looking for ideas on how to raise some funds. I knew that a large part of this
youth group were active members of “myspace.com” [ large web site where people meet online]. Seeing as these youngsters
were internet savvy and they all considered the local churches website boring [ it is, sorry but it looks like a bulletin
with nothing interesting about it].
I suggested they get a website that was more to their liking and have local business' sponsor the site for a monthly fee.
Simple idea - create a website and have local companies sponsor [ pay ] for a small banner promoting their company.
The problem - no one in the group had the knowledge, web space or time to create it.
So in an attempt to help them I revamped my Idea and offered to create the website for them - with one condition. That
condition was that they allow me to place advertisements on the web site. They had no problem with the suggestion.
Consider who the site is for? Being that this was a religious group I was working with. I had to take into consideration
what and how I would advertise on the site.
I was working with a religious group that ranged in the age group of 12 to 18. So I decided to keep my affiliate promotions
simple, basic and focused on my demographic group. My affilaite programs I decided to use were geared towards:
* Games * Music * Movies * And a
Christian ebook store [ with help from Amozon.com]
After I assemble my affiliate ads, programs and took into consideration what the youth Pastor and the youth themselves
wanted on this website I went to work. In the beginning it was a bit difficult and time consuming. I personally went out and
found the sponsors needed to make this a success for the youth group. I even created a banner for the youth group to post
on their individual “myspace” websites to promote their H2O website.
To give you an idea of how beneficial this can be to your business, the first week was slow - but the second week produced
800 visitors to the website and this continues on. It all was set up to be automatic. Most of the promotion is done by the
kids themselves. 90% of the content on the site is self updating on a weekly basis, and the youth pastor provides a new thought
of the month for me to update - once a month.
They have their fund raising and exciting website - I sit back and let them promote the site that carries all my affiliate
banners and promotional text ads.
Help a charity today. It can be a Blessing!
