New way to make money sharing videos
There’s a lot of talk about remunerating video creators these days. Revver’s
been doing it a while, along with Metacafe. Blinkx is now monetizing video for publishers too, but unlike YouTube’s
recent offering, revenue is only split between Blinkx and the publishers.
They’re launching an ad network that lets
publishers serve contextual ads on top of the videos they embed on their sites. All a publisher needs to do is sign up and
wrap their video’s player in Blinkx’ ad code (there’s a full explanation in a video I embedded below). Publishers
are paid half of any ad revenue generated from ads served on their site via PayPal. I have a feeling that this product will
be popular amongst video submitters for sites like Digg. [ Techcrunch ]
Videos are the biggest draw on traffic, and that con not be disputed by anyone. The problem was - when making money - how
to monetize it. Or atleast for many of us non-tech people who can’t creat good quality and creative videos - how do
you use someone else’s content to make money. The easiest method was - Embed the video and place ads around it - but
that always didn’t work. Though the best way to make money to to be the creator of video content - Blinkx can help someone
like me who is video challenged to use videos and still make money.
The best thing I like is the fact that they give you the option of having ads placed in video or on outside of video player
[ always choose outside ]
Example of how it looks:
BLINKX :The Most Specific questions are:
Where can I embed my AdHoc enhanced videos?
Our
goal isto support all popular blogging platforms and social networks. If you have found a site that's not compatible with
AdHoc, please let us know at adhoc@blinkx.com
What do I need to register?
Very, very little. Just select a username and password to create an account
and give us your PayPal username (usually an email address). You must have a PayPal account because that's how we'll pay you
once you start making money. You can register for a PayPal account at http://www.paypal.com.
How many ads will appear on my video?
blinkx 's AdHoc technology looks for relevant ads and only shows
those that it predicts will be relevant and useful for your viewers. As a result, there will be times when there are few or
even no ads shown, and you won't make money. However, we believe that, in the long term, keeping your viewers happy and engaged
is more important, so we aren't going to waste their time with irrelevant and annoying promotions.
