| Can you “DIGG” it, can you - Digg it????
One of my all time favorite movies is “Warriors”, it’s about
a gang that is framed for the murder of an influential gang leader [ Cirus ] who only wanted to unite all the gangs of NY -
sort of like organized crime today. It’s a wonderful movie to watch.
But I bring it up only because I am curious if you are using “DIGG”
and the other like kind social media’s? If your not, your missing a great opportunity - if you are, hope your using
it wisely. Using social media’s like “Digg” has helped me raise the traffic of one of my small site's to
10,000 unique visitors a month. Of course you have to know about “flashy writing” in order to create title’s
that attract visitor’s or as I like to call them “eye balls”.
A “social media” site like Digg can be a boom or a bust if your not
careful. It could attract visitors, but it can also bring you a lot of hurt. No matter how you look at it - everything comes
with it’s good and bad. Just ask any married couple around [ love hate relationship]. So lets start with the good you
can get from a site like Digg.
Good / benefits: 1- If you create an attractive title and pick a good
subject matter and niche you can attract hundreds even thousands of visitors to your site in one day.
2- No matter what anyone says - "Traffic is King". If you can get a lot of traffic
to your site and have Google [ tracking your visitors thru analytics] it can greatly improve your ranking and position on
Google’s search engine. Now who doesn’t want that?
3- If you monetize your site, which everyone should [ even if you just use something
as simple as Adsense ] those visitors can translate into sales and income. It’s ultimately a numbers game - get 1,000
visitors, 400 actually review the site, 50 click on ads [ Bingo - you make money ].
4- Most visitors from Social media site come and go - but slowly and with good
content, these visitors can become “loyal” recurring visitors of your site. That is a good goal to achieve.
Now the Bad about using social media’s: 1- Don’t be fooled
by the traffic. A good title and catchy saying can attract a lot of “eyes” [visitors] but that doesn’t
mean they will stay - their the kind of visitors that are looking for a quick fix. Usually, if you don’t capture their
attention within the first 10 seconds, their gone like the wind.
2- because they come and go quickly, many of them will eat up space. What do I
mean. If you link to a blog or allow them to leave a message on the site - they will often spend more time placing spam or
writing bad about the topic they didn’t even fully read. And that my friend is waste - so if you link to a page - make
sure it’s built to keep their attention and avoid giving them opportunity to spam on you.
3- Ever been “banned”? Black balled, black listed, down right told
never to come back????? Well, there are people out there that don’t want you to succeed [ surprise]. You using these
“social media” site's open you up to easy attacks from your competition or wacko's who have nothing better to
do than to anoy you.
The problem is, that most of these “social Media” site's have wacky
rules and if you or someone else breaks them - you get banned. And don’t try talking your way out of it - most of them
have the same mentality that Google does “ don’t call us, we’ll never call you”………
4- It’s easy to do, and easy to get hooked on. There are no short cuts to
SEO. You have to do the work, if you rely on just social media sites like “DIGG” you can get badly burned if your
banned or if Google changes one of their “Algorithms” again…… [ they almost do it as often as I change
my underwear…. Joke, laugh……}
In short, be smart and use the benefits these “social Media “ sites
provide. Use them to help you make money, get traffic, and build ranking. Just don’t rely on them to the point that
you forget to keep up with the necessary “SEO” needs of your site. |
